Egg  I  Noa Fein

The artwork wishes to express the essential parental need of protecting offspring from hardship, while navigating the children’s need to break out, experience their own individual selves, and interact with the dangers and conflicts which will shape them.

The full-grown bird, sleeping peacefully inside an egg, is an image used to reflect on the motherly need to act as a barrier against dangers and difficult experiences.

Botanical images are painted on the other side of the object, which represents pleasant opportunities, and moths that symbolize dangers and conflict. The birds are presented in different stages of hatching, mirroring the inevitable process of leaving the protective shell and becoming fully present in a complex and beautiful world.
